I figure it’s update time.
If you follow me on Facebook, then you’ve probably seen me mention that I was having some issues with the third book. It was mostly finished, but there was something that wasn’t sitting right with me and I couldn’t figure out what it was. I think I figured it out, so things should be back on schedule now. It is in my beta reader’s hands, and if I’ve fixed the issues like I hope I have, then it’ll be going to the editor soon. Cross your fingers!
I also want to apologize to those who are subscribed to my blog or those who visit looking for posts. I’m a terrible blogger and I’ve admitted this before. My reasoning in this: writing comes first. That’s the simple truth. Writing comes first. I figure–and hope–y’all would rather I spend time writing than stressing over blog posts. So, consider this my “I’m not going to be blogging much” warning.
Sadly, I’ve also come to the conclusion that, despite my wants and best intentions, I’ll likely only be releasing 2 books a year. I would absolutely love to be able to write more, but there’s too much involved in the stories and I refuse to rush them, putting out what I think is bad content, for the sake of speed. Quality over quantity. I know not everyone will like every book I write, and as a writer, I accept that. But first and foremost, I have to love the books, too.
There are plotters (those who know everything that happens in a story before they ever write it), there are pantsers (those who discover things as they go), and there are people like me who are somewhere in the middle. For the most part, I don’t know what I’m writing until it happens. There are some Big Things that I know ahead of time, but I’m never sure how or when they’ll come into play until they do. If I was a plotter, the series would probably go a lot faster, but because I’m not…things are a convoluted mess. I write the books fast–it’s the editing that kills me. Every. Single. Time.
But! There is a–hopefully–bright side. I actually have, I think, the majority of Breed 4.0 plotted out. This *should* mean that the writing and editing will go a lot faster, so hopefully it won’t be a bajillion months before the next book is out. I won’t know for sure until I start writing it though, which will likely be in November.
So, rest assured that I’m working on the series, even if I’m slower at it than I’d like to be!
I hope everyone is doing okay! If you have any questions, just let me know! And remember, if you want to know when Breed of Havoc is released, you can sign up for my newsletter.
